The leading edge gym finished
it's 2008 competitive MMA season with two events. First up
Nathan Gunn competed at the Raw Combat ``Redemption`` card in
Calgary on October 25th.Nathan faced Jared Evans a very tough
wrestler from Calgary. Nathan dominated the fight on his feet
rocking Evans several times and then dominated the ground
portions of the fight as well. The fight went all three rounds
and Nathan was given the unanimous decision. Nathan's record
improves to 6-0.
Next up for the Leading Edge fighters was Ultimate cage Wars 14
``November to Remember.' The event took place November 28th at the
Winnipeg convention center in front of a sold out crowd. First up
for the Leading Edge gym was David Letourneau who made his pro MMA
debut at 170 pounds. Letourneau faced Aaron Gallant a veteran of 4
fights from Canuckles MMA team out of Calgary. Letourneau won
a unanimous decision in a hard fought slug fest many called the
fight of the night. Second out for the
Leading Edge was Matt' kid Lightning' Veal who faced another
Canuckles fighter named Luis Huete at 145 pounds. The fight was a
close match with Matt dominating the takedowns and Luis controlling
the ground fight. Matt showed incredible toughness but had to tap
out due to an arm bar at the end of the second round. Matt's record
goes to 5-3.Last up for the Leading Edge gym was Andrew Elliot in a
feature match with tough Bodog Veteran Victor Daychief of
Lethbridge.The fight was contested at 170 pounds. Elliot totally
dominated the fight both standing and on the ground as Daychief had
no answer for Elliot's aggressive attack that left him swollen and
bloody. Elliot earned a unanimous decision against a tough well
respected veteran moving him up the welterweight rankings.
In the past 23 months the Leading Edge fight team has
competed in 30 pro MMA bouts with a total of 24 wins and 6 losses.
This just shows that hard work pays off. Keep up the great work
